[return] THE HENLEY ROYAL REGATTA ROWING GAME Enjoy the unique atmosphere of this famous social and sporting event In this game players can experience the, amusement and frustration of training for and rowing in, the famous Henley Royal Regatta, which takes place annually on England's River Thames. The objective of the game is to first take your crew on a visit to the historic English town of Henley-on-Thames, where they must try to avoid the temptations of the town and acquire some good training points, which will be added to their points indicator. Onshore training can include a run through the lush green of the local countryside to gain extra training points. Crew members will then cross over Henley's famous bridge and embark their racing boat at the Leander Club. From where they will try to acquire more good training points while rowing their boat to the race start at Temple Island. Once under 'Umpire's orders' they will make ready to race against the other player's crew.

Player will use the results of their crew's training, as they compete against the rival player's crew over the famous regatta course. Good training points can be used to advantage by moving the boat ahead. Bad points are a disadvantage and will move the boat back. All bad points must be used up before the end of the race. The first crew to cross the finish line is the winner. However this game can be organised into heats in the same way that Henley Regatta itself is structured. This game can be between two players and will take less than an hour to play. Or it can it can be played by an unlimited number of players through eliminating heats. In the game of Henley our brief was to capture something of the special atmosphere experienced by the oarsmen and oarswomen who take part in this famous annual event and to produce a game that would be enjoyed by anyone with an interest in the sport of rowing.
