To close the 2010 Singapore Youth Olympic Games Regatta, a sprint relay was organized over 250m. Each mixed gender team consisted of four single sculls (two Junior Men and two Junior Women) and two pairs (one with Junior Men and one with Junior Women) and represented a mix of the crews that were the fastest and the slowest during the Youth Olympic Regatta in order to make the teams as equal as possible.

Each team chose one or two athletes to become their team captain(s). The captains were the ones who received the relay instructions and passed them on to their teammates. They were able to organise the team as they wished, as long as one pair started and one single ended each round of racing. The mix of languages was quite a challenge at times, but one that the teams met with successfully. It was all about communicating, organising and sympathising across countries and continents and, of course, also all about rowing. The rowers played the game and enjoyed it. Happy faces, laughter and chatting brought a great ending to the Youth Olympic Regatta.

But of course, there was also a competitive aspect and teams raced in four heats to qualify for the finals where only the three fastest teams finishing first in the heats would qualify to race in the A-Final. No medals would be awarded, but all rowers made an arch of honour with their their oar to celebrate the winning team. Team 10 was the winning team and consisted of Alara Dirik (TUR), Tarin Kokelj (SLO), Augustin Maillefer (SUI), Matthew Crochan (AUS), Akane Makamu (South Africa), Juliet Donaldson (South Africa), Jure Grace and Grega Domanjko (SLO).
