Neykova receives top recognition

Olympic gold medallist Rumyana Neykova of Bulgaria is to be presented with a Stara Planina order. Neykova’s coach Svilen Neykov is also to receive the order.
Neykova won gold in the women’s single at Beijing and was the only gold medal won for Bulgaria from the Beijing Olympics. Receiving a Stara Planina order recognises Neykova and Neykov’s exceptional efforts in developing physical education and sport in Bulgaria.
As recipients Neykova and Neykov will be one of the few sports people to have received the award. This prestigious order will be presented by the President of Bulgaria, Georgi Parvanov, at a specially organised event.
Neykova is a five-time Olympian and has won bronze, silver and gold in the women’s single. She is also a world champion. Neykov is married to Neykova and they have two children.
