The Silver Skiff is a time regatta for single scullers on the distance of 11 km. It takes place in Turin on the Po river among parks and royal castels, in the places that hosted the Winter Olympic games in 2006. In the Silver Skiff it is possible to find many champions challenging, among which some winners of Olympic or World golds, young promises of the international rowing and many masters of any age. All these participants give birth to a competition which combines the technical interest to the charm and the joy of a big party.
Since 1992 the Reale Società Canottieri Cerea, promoter of the competition, has tried to combine the technical and athletic aspects of this competition to the pleasure of staying in a city of art, the first capital of Italy, in order to create a rowing happening in which the biggest role is played by the sense of hospitality.
All FISA categories are present in the Silver Skiff: in 2007 there were 440 crews from 18 different nations and 5 continents, from 15 to 80 years old, and among them 10 Olympic medals winners and 105 winners of the world competitions.
On Saturday girls and boys from 11 to 14 years old contend for the Kinder Skiff, the time regatta of 4 km, in which 252 crews from 4 different nations have participated last year.
