DON’T EXAGGERATE “HANDS AWAY”

    Many oarsmen shoot the hands away fast and lock the elbows straight. With a perfect “throw her away” that jerk could not come. 

The hands should keep moving from the body evenly, and the arms should only be stretched out straight when full forward and the elbow joints never stiffened or locked. 

Another good exercise is to come off the seat on to the stretcher and row back without touching the seat. It teaches the correct way to come on to the stretcher.
