Συμβαίνει και στα καλύτερα σπίτια

Διαβάζοντας προσεκτικά την ανακοίνωση της ΦΙΖΑ παρατήρησα ότι και στα καλύτερα σπίτια μπορεί να συμβεί.
Η Εκοφνς ξέχασε στις εκδόσεις των Κωπηλατικών Νέων τα αποτελέσματα του Παγκοσμίου Εφήβων, η Φιζα δεν έγραψε ούτε μια αράδα για τους καλύτερους αθλητές της ρεγκάτας που ήταν οι Έλληνες με τον αργυρό Ολυμπιονίκη Δ.Μούγιο και τους Παγκόσμιους Πρωταθλητές Νίκο και Απόστολο Γκουντούλα , Ηλία Παππά κλπ
Αν η ανακοίνωση υπαγορεύθηκε από κάποιον της διοργάνωσης, μήπως δεν θα έπρεπε να τους τιμήσουμε με την συμμετοχή μας;;

Η αντιγραφή δεν σταμάτησε εκεί συνεχίστηκε και με λάθη στα ονόματα των αθλητών.

Short, sharp, shock FISA Team Cup

A competitive combination of countries, favourable warm weather and some surprise results - these elements all added up to a successful 15th FISA Team Cup in Spain’s southern city of Seville.

The Czech Republic sent a small but powerful team which included Vaclav Chalupa who is heading into his third decade of international rowing. Racing over the 1000m distance on the first day of the two-day regatta, the Czechs picked up gold medals in the men’s double, lightweight men’s double, men’s four and lightweight men’s four.

The men’s single went Greece’s way with last year’s European Rowing Championships winner Ioannis Christou taking gold ahead of Mindaugas Griskonis of Lithuania with Chalupa finishing third.

Ursula Grobler of South Africa crossed the finish line first in the lightweight women’s single while Hong Kong and Spain finished second and third respectively. Grobler, who is currently living and training in Spain, then teamed up with top Spanish lightweight, Teresa Mas de Xaxars to win the lightweight women’s double.

A surprise win in the lightweight men’s single went Hong Kong’s way with their most accomplished rower Hiu Fung Law getting first ahead of top Czech lightweight, Ondrej Vetesnik. Hong Kong also took third after a fine effort by two-time Olympian Sau Wah So. Hong Kong has been training in Seville leading up to the Team Cup and they will remain for another week.

Spain’s Olympic single sculler Nuria Dominguez won the women’s single, beating sole Russian entry Yulia Kalinovskaya and Italy’s Elisabetta Sancassani.

The second day of racing covered a 500m distance and produced very different results. In the absence of the Czech Republic, due to flight times, and some new entries, host nation Spain took gold in the lightweight men’s single (Marco Toral) as well as the men’s four, men’s pair and men’s eight. But in the women’s single, Russia’s Kalinovskaya denied Dominguez of another Spanish gold.

The lightweight women’s single went to the line with Greece’s Stergiani Pavlov just piping Ka Man Lee of Hong Kong with Glober back less than a second in third.

In the absence of Greece, Griskonis earned line honours in the men’s single. Italy’s rowing stalwart Simone Raineri got second while Stergios Papachristos of Greece followed in third.

FISA’s Development Director Thor Nilsen said many of the teams used this regatta as a chance for some variation from winter training so no one was completely racing prepared. But Nilsen said he was impressed by the results, especially of Hong Kong’s team.

Nilsen commented that the number of participants were down on previous years. He cited several reasons including the recent cold weather in the north meaning that many northern Europeans had been unable to row, some athletes are still taking post-Olympic breaks and the present economy is having an impact on available funding.
