The Warwick Rowing girls fund-raising calendar, which HTBS wrote about
on 29 November,
has received some criticism for being 'tacky', and the young ladies are
being called traitors to the feminist cause by a female student
blogging for the
Huffington Post. I am not surprised because each
time a naked butt is shown - and that butt belongs to a
non-professional 'model' - that person, often then a young lady (because
who among the feminist protesters make a fuss if the naked body part
belongs to a slightly older woman?) has to explain herself why she
allows herself to be exploited. No, I say, she does not have to excuse
herself, there is no law saying that you always have to be 'politically
correct'...
In the case of the female Warwick rowers - they called themselves 'Warwick Rowing girls' on their
Twitter account
- they are posing tastefully nude in a charity calendar to raise money
for Macmillan Cancer
Support. I would say that these ladies are on an honorary mission and
as many people as possible should help them by buying their calendar.
I was happy to read that Emma Barnett, the Women's Editor in the
Daily Telegraph, is standing behind the Warwick Rowing girls in an article published yesterday. Read it
