Travel to Eton Dorney
Eton Dorney is a world-class venue that will be used for Rowing, Canoe Sprint and Paralympic Rowing competitions during the London 2012 Games. It is located near Windsor, around 40km west of London.

Eton Dorney is 40km outside of London and not on the London Underground network. The venue can be reached by National Rail from central London. Travel to the venue by train from London is included with the Games Travelcard that you will get with your event ticket.
Shuttle buses will run from the recommended stations to the venue’s transport mall. During the Olympic Games, the mall will be located at Windsor Racecourse, a short walk from the venue across a temporary bridge over the River Thames. During the Paralympic Games, the transport mall will be located in Big Meadows Field, to the north-east of the venue.
If you are travelling to Eton Dorney from outside London, park-and-ride may be the best option to reach this venue, but please do not drive to the venue as there will be no parking available (except for Blue Badge holders or members of an equivalent national scheme).
As you approach the venue, please follow any signs showing the way or directions given to you by transport staff and volunteers.
While it is best to plan your journey in advance, remember to check for any last minute changes before you travel.
Accessibility
Slough, Maidenhead and Windsor & Eton Riverside National Rail stations are all step-free with staff assistance available and will have accessible shuttles to the venue’s transport mall. Park-and-ride sites will include accessible parking spaces. An accessible shuttle service will also be provided from the venue’s transport mall to the venue entrance.
Limited, pre-booked parking will be provided in the transport mall for disabled spectators who are UK Blue Badge holders or members of an equivalent national scheme. Park-and-ride services are not included in the price of your ticket and must be booked in advance. You will be able to book park-and-ride services once you have received confirmation of your tickets, at which point further details will be available.
National Rail
There are three stations providing access to Eton Dorney:
- Slough station, with direct services from London Paddington, Reading and Oxford;
- Windsor & Eton Riverside station, with direct services from London Waterloo; and
- Maidenhead station, with direct services from Reading.

River
A river shuttle will operate a limited service between Windsor Promenade and Windsor Racecourse during the Games, providing a fast and convenient way to travel from Windsor to Eton Dorney. Travel by river is not included in the Games Travelcard provided with your event tickets. You may need to book your journey in advance. Once you have been allocated an event ticket, you will be able to get more information and book travel tickets.
Walking
Eton Dorney is located on the north bank of the River Thames. The Thames Path north of the river runs past the venue. There is a walking route from Windsor to the transport mall at Windsor Racecourse. There are also numerous signed traffic-free walking routes in the area.
Cycling
National Cycle Route Network 4 runs alongside the north perimeter of the venue. There is good cycle access on a number of dedicated routes in the area. Free, secure, managed cycle parking will be provided at the venue’s transport mall and north of the river next to the spectator entrance.
Taxis and private hire vehicles
A taxi pick-up/drop-off area will be provided in the venue’s transport mall.
