National Gay & Lesbian Sculling Camp Building a network whilst building our skills

ENROLMENTS ARE NOW OPEN!
Join same-sex attracted scullers from clubs across Australia and New Zealand at Albert Park Lake for a fun weekend of sculling skills development and network building. Scullers will be streamed according to ability, and activities will encompass sessions on-water, video feedback, training programs, basic rigging, and health & wellbeing. Additionally, there will be a dinner with a guest speaker on Saturday night and a lunch workshop on ways we can increase the level of participation by same-sex attracted people in rowing. In expressing his support for the camp, Rowing Victoria President, Andrew Guerin said, ‘One of the key attractions and benefits of sport and common to any rowing club, is a strong sense of community. In the case of the Argonauts, they have been very successful in introducing rowing and its benefits to the wider gay & lesbian community in Melbourne. Rowing Victoria is committed to developing new opportunities for people to participate in the sport in a healthy & welcoming environment and is keen to see rowing continue to be accessible for people from diverse backgrounds. As such, Rowing Victoria was pleased to partner with the Melbourne Argonauts in the successful staging of the 1st Asia Pacific Outgames Melbourne 2008 Regatta and is also pleased to be involved in the staging of the National Gay & Lesbian Sculling Camp in January 2010 which we hope will be the first of many such camps in years to come.’ After a weekend of rowing - we can 'cool down' at the T Dance at Midsumma Carnival! This event is coordinated by Melbourne Argonauts in association with Rowing Victoria and Midsumma and is made possible by support from the 1st Asia Pacific Outgames Legacy Fund. The organisers reserve the right to hold a number of available places open to ensure an adequate representation of female athletes and athletes from outside the Melbourne metropolitan area. Depending on circumstance, limited financial assistance may be available to assist athletes who travel from Queensland, Northern Territory, Western Australia and New Zealand.
